Popular Cardiff Coffee Shop Square + Fair to Open New Wellfield Road Café This September

Independent Cardiff food and coffee brand Square + Fair has announced plans to open its third location this September, bringing its popular focaccia sandwiches, fresh salads, Welsh roasted coffee and viral canned drinks to Wellfield Road.

Work is already underway at the new site, with designs currently being finalised ahead of the opening later this year.

The new location will showcase everything Square + Fair has become known for. Customers can expect its generously filled focaccia sandwiches, fresh salads, homemade cakes and its increasingly popular canned cake range. The team will also be serving its own Welsh roasted coffee alongside the matcha canned drinks that have been making waves on social media and attracting customers from across Wales and beyond.

One of the most exciting features of the new site will be a hidden secret garden, offering a beautiful and unexpected space for customers to sit, relax and enjoy great food and coffee in the heart of Roath.

For founder Nicholas Collins, opening on Wellfield Road is particularly meaningful.

“Wellfield Road has always been a special place for me. My wonderful nan, Ivy, lived on Strathnairn Street behind Albany Road and some of my favourite childhood memories were spent walking around the area with her, visiting the local shops and spending time together. To now be opening a business in a place that means so much to me is incredibly emotional and something I know she would have been proud of.

Although I will say, I don’t think her false teeth would have coped very well with one of our giant focaccia sandwiches. She was much more of a tea person.”

The building will also be home to an exciting new concept on the second floor.

The Reset Club will be a dedicated men’s lifestyle space bringing together grooming, style and self care under one roof. The concept will feature an exceptional barber alongside carefully selected menswear, accessories, skincare, fragrances and lifestyle products.

The aim is to create a destination that offers much more than food and coffee, giving customers a unique experience that combines hospitality, community and lifestyle.

“We’ve always wanted to create spaces that people genuinely enjoy spending time in. Between the food, coffee, secret garden and The Reset Club, we’re building something that feels completely different and we’re excited to bring it to Wellfield Road.”
