Cardiff Wine Festival

You don't want to miss out on the 1st edition of the Cardiff Wine festival. Taste a large selection of wines and spirits, all while meeting 40+ wine producers from all around the globe. The Cardiff Wine Festival takes place on saturday 25th June, at the presidents lounge in the principality stadium. Tickets start from £15, with two available time slots (1pm-4pm and 5pm-8pm).

Kerinos

The winery is located in the north of Puglia, on the hills that surround the legendary Tavoliere. Here everything is still dictated by agricultural times. Grapes are picked by hand and carefully selected, fermented in stainless steel containers, where only indigenous yeast are used and the fermentation is spontaneous. The Kerinos Range is made by international and native grapes which greatly express the flavours of this unique land. The rich clay and limestone soils favour wine quality, which is further enhanced by carefully-controlled yields.

The Vineyards are in the heart of the Mediterranean, where the hot and sunny days are mitigated by the fresh breezes from the Adriatic sea, allowing the organical growth of grapes. Embracing the values of sustainability, kerinos refuses the use of pesticides or chemical products that would harm the vineyards or environment around them. Learning from nature everyday, kerinos never invades or alters its balance, respecting the land and history of the vines, treasuring its fruits and sharing them with customers through wines.

Nero di Troia

Nero di Troia, also known as Uva di Troia is the third most important of puglia’s native black grape vines after Negroamaro and Primitivo. Negroamaro is grown in the provinces of Brindisi and Lecce, and is the most important for all of the denominations of origin. Selento and Primitivo identify the labels produced in the province of Taranto. Nero di Troia has its ideal terroir in the province of Foggia and the northern part of the province of Bari. This trio of black grape varieties express all the rich diversities of Puglia’s wine-growing sector.

Nero di Troia has also given an important contribution to the development of the Castel del Monte area. In addition to this, the rediscovery of Nero di Troia and its territory has also drawn attention to the other lesser known native varieties like Bombino Bianco and Bombino Nero. Both are long Underrated, even though they produce delightful wines.

Appassimento

This variety of grape is very ancient and native to the southern Italian region of Puglia. It is historically used in blends and has been showing its full potential in recent years. Legend has it that thanks to Diomedes, king of Argo, who fought in the Trojan war, this variety arrived in Puglia from the ancient Greek town of Troy.

Appassimento is a particular style of wine, obtained by drying grapes, either on special racks or on the vine for late harvest. This process allows the grapes to concentrate the sugar levels and flavours.

Cantina La Marchesa

Cantina La Marchesa was established by Marika and Sergio, 10 years ago. Their passion for the land and wine making led them to making a dream of theirs come true. Based in the town of Lucera, in the northern part of Puglia, their 14 Hectares of vineyards are just 300 MT from the cellar making harvesting as efficient as possible, in terms of time-cutting procedures and keeping the grapes aromas intact. This ensures the quality of the final product.

By fully respecting traditions and working just with Puglia native varieties such as Nero di Troia and Bombino Bianco. All processes are strictly carried out by hand, by experienced high skilled workers. In springtime, excessive leaves are removed in order to allow the warm Puglian sun to ripen the grapes, which later are pruned to let only the best clusters become wine. They strongly believe that good wine can only be created if there is passion and hardwork in the vineyards. From growing the grapes to wine making, bottling and selling the final product, Cantina La Marchesa takes care of the whole production process.

On the Day you will be able to try some of the finest wines in the world, from some of the great producers. Let's take a look at some of them:
