The NSBRC Guide to Self Build & Renovation Projects (6–8 November 2026)

A comprehensive three-day course for aspiring self-builders, renovators and retrofitters, covering early planning through to completion, plus heating and sustainability, delivered using the National Self Build & Renovation Centre’s full-size exhibits.

The NSBRC Guide to Self Build & Renovation Projects is a three-day in-person training course designed for self-builders, home renovators and retrofitters. The programme covers early-stage planning, later-stage delivery and completion, and a specialist day on heating and sustainability, supported by practical learning using the Centre’s life-size exhibits and a fabric-first approach.

Course structure:

• Day 1: Project planning & preparation (budgeting & finance, finding & evaluating land, design & specification, planning permission)

• Day 2: Tendering to completion (building systems & construction methods, building regulations, contracts & tendering, project & site management)

• Day 3: Heating & sustainability (energy fundamentals, design/planning/management, heating options)
